At the end of World War II, the Navy also needed to update a flying jacket to

replace the heavy fur jacket, and the AL-1 emerged.

The AL-1 (55J13), suitable for cold weather conditions, is a medium length jacket

with a thick wool lining, two sleeved nylon lining, slanted warm handbags on both

sides of the garment, and specialized wool threads to prevent wind ingress,

providing excellent insulation. In addition to a warm handbag, there are two

storage pockets at the hem, and there is also a hidden pocket on each side of the

zipper. One zipper pocket and one button pocket are very convenient in design,

and even the hanging rope under the collar is nailed to the outside of the collar

and back, which is simply no longer considerate. AL-1 was only produced

between 1947 and 1952, with a scarce quantity and mainly equipped with Navy

and Marine Corps pilots. There are slight differences between the early and later

stages of the design, with the most obvious being the zipper used to tighten the

cuffs in the early stages, which was later removed.
